POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the President & CEO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Vice President of Grants & Programs (VP) will be responsible for leading RAC's grants and programs strategy and contribute to the development of the organization's strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the VP will be charged with developing and executing all current and future programs as well as providing strategic oversight for all grant distributions. This is an outstanding opportunity for a program management executive with strong grants management experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management to join in a high-growth, mission-driven organization.

The essential responsibilities of the for this position are as follows:

  • Develops relationships with potential program participants and other community partners and colleagues to explore and guide the concept, objectives, activities, and content for all current and future RAC programs.
    • Current Programs: Community Arts Training Institute, Gyo Obata Fellowship, and Artist Inc. LIVE.
  • Partners with Commission's Grants & Programs Committee to develop long-term strategy for current and future RAC grants and programs.
  • Develops and executes special convenings and events to strengthen relationships, share insights, and explore strategic/generative topics; as well as provides additional opportunities for learning, network-building, and collaboration for the arts and culture sector.
  • Partners with Research & Evaluation and Growth & Development team to document and communicate outcomes and learning from all RAC programs.
  • Serves as a trainer or facilitator for programs when necessary and appropriate.
  • Participates in community outreach efforts to ensure RAC's grants, and programs are inclusive and representative of the breadth and diversity of the region's arts and cultural sector.
  • Serves as a key spokesperson for media and other external communications opportunities.
  • Contributes to an organizational culture that attracts, retains, and motivates high performing team members.
  • Establishes and monitors performance and development goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, and conducts annual performance appraisals.
  • Oversees all phases of grants management including development and implementation of guidelines and applications; grant reviewer recruitment, selection and management; and other general administrative duties required to implement annual grant cycles.
  • Ensures accurate and accessible grantmaking records using manual and electronic data collection methods.
  • Remains current on emerging trends in grantmaking and makes recommendations to incorporate best practices into RAC policies and procedures.

WHAT QUALIFIES YOU

You have a passion for data-informed ideation, bold thinking, a keen eye for opportunities of improvement, a strong internal motivation, and an ability to think about the future while operating in the here-and-now. You can navigate cross-departmental relationships with ease and communicate clearly to different audiences and stakeholders, and you are comfortable balancing multiple projects with short- and long-term timelines for impact. As the ideal candidate, you have the following qualifications:

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, non-profit management, or related field required, Masters degree preferred.
  • You have a minimum of 15+ years of experience in a senior management role ideally in both for-profit and non-profit organizations.
  • 10+ years effectively managing and developing talent (direct-report, teams and consultants).
  • Experience managing program budgets from $500K - $2MM.
  • Proficient and experienced with community stakeholder relationship management.
  • Experience using social media and social networking platforms.
  • Experience with grantmaking applications (Blackbaud) utilizing data to perform grant analysis and reporting preferred.
  • You have experience managing complex community programs with diverse participants.
  • You have a proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change within a growing organization.
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial growth-stage environment.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively interface with colleagues at every level in an organization from senior management to entry-level.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills that support avoiding real and perceived conflicts of interest.
  • Skilled negotiator that has a "people first" approach to conflict resolution.
  • Exhibits strong mentoring and coaching skills to support a team with various levels of expertise and experience.
  • Working knowledge of long-range strategic planning process and budget forecasting.
  • Energetic, service-oriented, team player with initiative and ability to also work independently.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to meet tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Demonstrated track-record of careful attention to detail in an effort to productively manage both the strategic and tactical requirements of executing grant distributions and programs.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills to develop internal and external relationships with individuals, groups, and communities from various cultures and experiences.
  • Highly developed emotional intelligence that supports an organizational commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Handles confidential information with a high level of discretion.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Salary Range:

Salary range for this position is $111,361 - $161,221.
