POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the President & CEO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Vice President of Finance and Operations will be responsible for stewarding the organizational functions of finance and accounting, HR, IT and Facilities with current and new team members. The VP will be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures both in the finance and general operational realms. The essential responsibilities of the for this position are as follows:

  • Manages the Commission's Finance Committee and supports the Commission Treasurer by effectively communicating and presenting critical financial matters
  • Implements and maintains monthly reporting to the President & CEO and Commissioners to ensure that RAC is monitoring its financial activities against the approved budget
  • Monitors cash flow and prepares and distributes reports on a regular basis that documents RAC's financial position, both short and long-term
  • Produces regular financial reports (prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements), forecasts, planning, budgeting, financial analysis, cash management, and procurement
  • Directs and manages the annual budget process, including coordinating activities required by staff and Commissioners to develop an effective budget and obtain the Commissioner's approval of the budget
  • Completes administrative and operational accounting services such as treasury management, 403-B plan, grants payment processing, payroll, accounts payable/invoicing and purchasing
  • Partners with President & CEO to ensure annual revenue, operating and expense budget goals are met
  • Contributes to the development of RAC's strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization
  • Ensures RAC is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to the commission
  • Major upcoming projects include bringing finance and accounting functions in-house, administration of ARPA funds, real estate improvements and upgrade of organization's IT infrastructure
  • Mentors and develops staff using a supportive and collaborative approach, assigns accountabilities, develops goals, establishes priorities, conducts annual performance appraisals, and monitors and evaluates results
  • Implements comprehensive Facilities Management Strategy including building maintenance, tenant management, and parking administration for 19,000 square-foot building located at 6128 Delmar

WHAT QUALIFIES YOU

You have a passion for data-informed ideation, bold thinking, a keen eye for opportunities of improvement, a strong internal motivation, and an ability to think about the future while operating in the here-and-now. You can navigate cross-departmental relationships with ease and communicate clearly to different audiences and stakeholders, and you are comfortable balancing multiple projects with short- and long-term timelines for impact. As the ideal candidate, you have the following qualifications:

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting, MBA preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • 15+ years of business management experience
  • 10+ years effectively managing and developing talent (direct-report, teams and consultants)
  • Experience managing organizational budgets from $7MM - $15MM
  • Experience either as an employee or board member of a nonprofit organization; must be familiar with nonprofit finance and accounting regulations
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization
  • Experience with or understanding of federal grant administration
  • Real Estate and property management experience a plus
  • Real Estate development and or Real Estate license a plus

  • Excellent judgment and analytical skills including negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience with a team of diverse levels of expertise
  • Highly effective organizational skills, a strong attention to detail and can effectively manage competing deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skill and the ability to work as a part of a team as well as make decisions independently
  • Strong management skills and the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Flexible, collaborative, and proactive team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and operational initiatives
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to build and develop internal and external relationships with individuals, groups, and communities of diverse backgrounds through strong interpersonal skills promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Highly proficient with accounting software (QuickBooks)

Salary Range:

Salary range for this position is $112,529 - $174,420.
