Communications Associate

A newly created role, the Communications Associate, reports to the Communications Senior Manager and is a part of the Growth & Development department at the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis (RAC). This role will be responsible for producing and editing branded marketing materials, updating and creating content for racstl.org and StLouisArts.org. This position will also assist with social media planning, execution, and content creation, scheduling meetings with artists and arts organizations for team members, and coordinating calendars. Additionally, this role will ensure that marketing and communication projects are managed and delivered in a professional manner.

The essential responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Supports external communications efforts, including PR, media inquiries, advertising, partnerships and sponsorships
  • Assists with sponsored event planning and execution, including logistics, vendor management and attending or working events during the evening or weekend
  • Acts as a liaison between external advertising vendors and RAC, creates and maintains advertising calendars and assets, and explores new advertising opportunities
  • Assists with gathering information and content through grant recipient activities, events, and accomplishments to best highlight the St. Louis arts and culture sector
  • Assists Communications Manager in content creation for social media platforms, email marketing campaigns, news stories, web content, and collateral
  • Schedules content creation opportunities for the Marketing & Communications team
  • Assists with photography and videography (training included)
  • Assists Communications Manager with graphic design needs, including resizing, designing, and strategy
  • Implements brand standards and assets with grant recipients and partners
  • Proofreads and edits content for RAC and StLouisArts.org websites as well as affiliated webpages
  • Assists RAC departments with timely updates regarding copy, documents or multimedia

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, journalism, or communications, or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in a communications, public relations, or marketing role
  • Experience in social media platforms and CMS required
  • Adobe Suite experience, specifically Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Some knowledge and experience in digital marketing, including SEO, ROI, KPI's, CTR, Reach Impressions, Conversions preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal skills, including grammar and composition, editing and proofreading skills
  • Requires a high attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work as part of a team and make decisions independently
  • Ability to build and develop internal and external relationships with individuals, groups, and communities of diverse backgrounds through strong interpersonal skills promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization, with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Tech savvy and proficient with Microsoft Office

Hiring Range:

Salary range for the position is $42,609 - $52,196.
